Re-Badging the Wolfman Car with a Wolfman Emblem

Recently the Volkswagen got re-badged into an official Wolfman Car with an official Wolfman emblem. Cut from a new material I am working with, the new reflective Wolfman emblem on the grille of the car should outlast the old VW emblem by a longshot. See the bottom of this email for a detail shot of the new emblem.

The Wolfman is a hybrid creature of my imagination; part man, part animal, it is a composite figure intended to remind us all of our frequently forgotten connection to the natural world. It is a recurring motif in virtually all of my work, from paintings and sculpture to decorated clothing and now a new art car. It is my signature both literally and figuratively, appearing as a digital drawing on my photographs. I have affixed the image of the Wolfman all over my Volkswagen with both silver and white reflective materials cut by hand. Although they may appear machine made it is my own hands that make each and every of the hundreds of cut-outs on the car, paying tribute to the symbol of the Wolfman as a link between the world of man and nature. 

The act of attaching the cut-outs to the car is a form of performance artwork alongside the car itself. The piece is a constant work in progress as a performance, for the car itself is an object I use every day. A fitting juxtaposition alongside the wild-hearted Wolfman! 

The Wolfman Car can now join the first art car I made back in the 80's as a performance piece which has become a major attraction in the East Village, viewable here or on the street if you're in the neighborhood. The Wolfman Car has made an appearance at the opening of the new Parrish Art Museum in the Hamptons; fitting as the wolf-dog that inspired it was born in East Hampton.
